The road of life is rarely, ever smooth. Falling down is part of the journey and when you look back at your life, you'll see that it was during those times of struggle that you learned the most valuable lessons. Here are some valuable tips that you can carry with you that will help:
Keep a positive attitude. Give yourself a break. It's okay to trip and fall every once in a while, we're only human and it's how we learn. How much further could you get in life, after you stumble, you get back up, brush yourself off and get back at it- as opposed to wallowing in self- pity. We all stumble. If you don't like that feeling, change the results. Can't change the results? Change the way you react to them.
Minor injuries remind you. It stings a little when we fall. We could be embarrassed. We could scrape some skin or break a bone. But bones heal and skin regenerates. And our embarrassing fall will hopefully become old news. But scars are there to remind us of what not to do again.
Learn from your mistakes. If you keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again, you will never get past them. Moving forward requires CHANGE. Don't be so afraid of mistakes that you stay frozen. Learn from them. Learn what not to do and what new thing to try next time, then move on. Then, as you continue down your path, you'll learn to see the dips in the road and know to avoid them.
You can't reach your destination if you don't know where it is!! Do everything you can to take that first step, but at least know the direction you're heading!! Take a moment to look over the directions, check the compass and the altitude and the final destination before you buy all of your climbing equipment! (Make your goal list and work backwards!)
Do a little recon work before you set out. What if you got an idea to climb X Mountain so you went out and bought all the coolest mountain climbing gadgets and the cutest little mountain climbing boots only to find out that you hated the cold nights and the glaciers of Mountain X and what you really wanted was the tropical happiness of Mountain Y. I'd hate for you to get to the top of the mountain, only to find that you're on the wrong one!
Be consistent. Take at lease one step toward your goal every single day. Big step, little step. Doesn't matter when you first get started. Take the step. Push yourself a little farther every day and you'd be amazed when you look back behind you, how far you've come. And me personally, nothing feels better than being able to cross out one of my completed tasks or being able to write my completed goal on my Victory Wall. It doesn't matter if you're tired or crabby or had a rough day, just do one little thing to take you one step closer to your goal.
Don't just talk about it!! Do it!! The difference between wishes and dreams is that effort it takes to make things come true. People who wish for things just want them to happen, sometimes really expect them to just... happen! People who dream don't just wait for things to happen. They go out and make their dreams a reality. Anyone can talk about what they want, be the one who goes out and gets it!
Celebrate your successes. Climbing your mountain is hard work!! When you have reached another plateau or a new level or made a new discovery, celebrate it!! Rejoice and take a moment to enjoy the results of your labor! It can be a long, boring, lonely journey if you don't stop and smell the roses along the way. So take a moment and reflect on where you've been, how far you've come and all the little goals you've reached on your way to the top!
You CAN get back up. When you fall down, don't give up. There are no escalators on mountains. You're going to have to put in some hard work to make it to the top. Remember, the things that you want the most are going to be worth the climb. If things came to easily to you, you wouldn't appreciate them as much as the things you literally earned. Reaching your goals may be difficult, but I can promise you, the results are worth every ounce of blood, sweat and tears.
How has your climb been going for you? What struggles are you facing and how can we help? What successes do you have to share?? Let us celebrate with you!! Leave your comments below!
