I cannot take those things away for you, but I can offer you these few tips to help get through...
1. Stop Comparing Yourself to Others
There is always going to be someone prettier, smarter or richer than you are. Always. And you can't let that bother you because they are not you. They do not have the same qualities as you! You are unique in your gifts and talents and beauty. By comparing yourself to others, first of all, I can promise you that it won't be a fair comparison! Meaning, if you are comparing yourself to those models in the magazines, lets remember that they have an entire team working for them to keep them looking beautiful. As a public figure, I'll be the first to admit that I am not ashamed to hide behind the Photo Shop to make me look better than I do in real life! See? So even I have insecurities!
And if you compare yourself to a seasoned professional (in anything!) then yes! You're going to come up short! Before you put yourself down for not having the fastest running times, the most touchdowns or even making a high dollar income stop and think- how much time have YOU invested to become the best there is in that area? Are you running everyday? Practicing out on the field regularly? Are you apprenticing with someone to teach you to be the next best version of yourself?
I understand that it looks like everyone else has it "easier" or is just "born that way", but everyone has to "pay their dues". That means you too. Don't compare yourself to anyone except yourself...
2. Challenge Yourself
If you just can't resist having someone to test yourself against, let it be you. Beat your last best score. Workout ten minutes longer next time. Eat better for better skin and hair and shape.
You never know what you're capable of until you put it to the test. So go ahead, don't worry about everyone else. What can you do to beat your personal best?
3. Take Note
You have so many good things going for you. Sometimes when we get in that insecure mode, we forget to see them. So take a moment right now, yes, now, and just write down the top ten things that come to your mind that make you uniquely YOU! What is your best feature? What are you good at? What do people come to you for help with? What was that thing Grandma said to you right before she pinched your cheek? (I'm sure it was something complimentary... Grandma's know best!) What's your favorite activity? What do you work at to out-do yourself? You can do this! Feel free to share your list with me! Need help compiling your list? Ask others what they like about you! Still need more? Give your bonus Momma (ME!) a shout-out!! I'd be happy to work with you, because I know that you are one of a kind and that God made you just this way for a reason
Don't let anyone else convince you (including you!) that you are less than you are! You are made just right!! Love yourself for who you are right this moment and then nothing can stop you!!
