I have been asked why we have a formal dance during the Total Truth Workshop. (Isn't that a little cheesy?) Well, I don't think it is "cheesy" at all, and here's why:
This is a celebration!! The participants in the Total Truth Workshop can literally FEEL the changes happening in them as things that were unclear to them finally get some light shed on them. It is such a feeling of excitement and empowerment! I can't think of a better way to celebrate this new change in them than to dance the night away... and eat cake. Cake is always good. Where ever dancing and cake are joined it is the universal language for celebration. The kids have worked hard for a day and a half, (with one more day to go) and really enjoy the break in pattern.
Why make it formal? Again, because it's a special occasion. Not just another day. In our society, the way things are going, we rarely have reasons or occasions to get dressed up anymore. It's sad. We need those times to feel special and make that extra effort to feel pretty, handsome and sophisticated. No one dresses up to go to live theatre, (an event that used to be EXTREMELY formal!), we barely dress up for weddings and funerals! Jeans, as cute as they may be, are not formal attire! You need to know how to dress, how to function in said attire, and how to behave in a formal setting. This dance not only celebrates what we have already learned, but gives them a chance to "see" themselves in their futures; It is celebrating who they will become.
But a Dance? Dancing is FUN! Do I really need to go into all the scientific evidence of how dancing releases endorphins and all that other boring stuff? Can't we just get out there and have a good time? Music is SO integral to all of my teaching because I know the power it has over peoples moods and memory and willingness to participate. I use music in some form or another in every class I teach. For the Total Truth Workshop, the Cupid Shuffle is literally part of the curriculum. No... really, it is. It helps to know the steps before you get there. But if you don't, don't worry! You will!
What if I don't like to dance? You certainly don't have to . You can still get benefit from just making the effort to get dressed up, step out of your comfort zone and support your fellow Mastermind group. There is something to be said, for simply showing up. Sometimes, that is a HUGE step for some people.
The Dance is part of the whole experience. No, you will not get a cheaper rate if you do not want to go to the dance! Believe it or not, there are "lessons" plugged into the actual dance reception. Just because they are cleverly disguised behind music and cake, it makes them no less relevant. And you would be missing out by not showing up. So yes, the dance is a required "class" of the Total Truth Workshop.
I love to dance! Since the Total Truth Workshop is my job, and it's always a good idea to be happy in your work, the dance party gives me one MORE reason to LOVE MY JOB!!! I always, no matter my mood, have a song fluttering around in my head and half the time, I am caught wiggling around either to the outside music or whatever I'm silently singing to! I am truly to proficient car dancer... Lol The dance lets me be a part of the group and just enjoy our time together. Structure is loosened, and everyone gets to mingle in a comfortable setting. What a great way to strengthen new relationships!!
So sign up for the Total Truth Workshop!! You'll love being a part of such an amazing group of people!
What other questions do you have? I'd love to hear from you! I'd love to be able to tackle your questions and concerns here on the blog in case anyone else is thinking the same thing! So let me know!
